What An Injustice To Diploma Graduates, What Degree Holders Uses 4yrs To Get Diploma Holders Uses 12yrs To Get GES Why?
When you come into GES with diploma, you are put on the rank of Senior Superintendent 2(SS II) and you are required to serve 4 years after which you are promoted to Senior Superintendent 1(SS I).
After getting to SS I, you have to serve for another 5 years to get to the rank we call Principal Superintendent (PS)
However, when you enter GES with a first degree, you are put on the rank of a Principal Superintendent (PS) So what it means is that, if you join GES with a diploma, you have to serve for 9 years to get to where someone with degree has started from meanwhile, the teacher with diploma spent 3 years in school whereas the teacher with degree has spent 4 years in school.
So with the difference of a year in training, you have a gap of 9 years to fill. This is cruelty and exploitation.
Thankfully this story will change from 2022 as colleges of Education will produce teachers with degrees for the very first time and these young graduates do not have to toil for 9 good years to get to where they will commence from.
Whoever thought of this and changed colleges of education from diploma awarding institutions to degree awarding institutions, certainly has teachers at heart and deserve some commendations.
Teachers of today won’t be swayed by words and promises, we want to see true reforms in the education sector and I am pleased with the few reforms I am seeing and I hope to see more for the next four years.
