WE NOW AGREE TO PAY LEVY TO ASSEMBLY BUT EXPECT TO SEE MORE DEVELOPMENTAL REFORMS- ANGRY TRUCK DRIVERS
A U- turn has been made after a group of truck drivers within the Afigya Kwabre in Ashanti battled their DCE Hon. Adu Poku Christian (APC) over what they suspected to be illegal collection of monies without seeing any development out of it, after a meeting with the assembly.
According to these drivers, they are now convinced to pay the said money after having met with the assembly to get clearer explanation.
They therefore plead with the assembly to make sure the money is used for the right purpose.
They said they need to see quick transformation such as road construction and other infrastructural projects etc from the money they pay.
“We initially argued about this money because we were not experiencing any development.
“Now that we are convinced on why we need to pay, we also expect them to do the right thing. We all expect progress and not retrogress”, they said.
It could be recalled that these aggrieved drivers sometime ago protested over payment of some money collected by the assembly and the DCE which thought suspected to contain some foiled content, hence their refusal to pay.
Speaking to Mr. Richard Kwadwo Kusi, Chairman of this Onuado Cooperative Tipper Drivers Association at Buoho, he hinted that the now the association is fully convinced to pay and he therefore advises the other drivers to make sure they pay any amount expected of them at any joint since they had also made it clear to the DCE to make sure he and the assembly does what drivers expect.
Meanwhile the DCE of the area has called individuals, ompanies, other stakeholders to support the assembly to develop the district.
