The Residents Of Kwahu Afram Plains South Are Allegedly Accussing A Police Officer And Petitioning IGP Over Rampant Highway Robberies.

The Residents of Kwahu Afram Plains South are allegedly accussing a police officer and Petition IGP.

The letter dated 5th January, 2020 by some personalities in the district indicated that they will be embarking on a massive demonstration next week Tuesday all things been equal over rampant highway robberies in the area.

According to them, the continuous highway menace has imposed on them fear and panic, also among commuters particularly traders affecting the local economy as many traders are reluctant to come to the various market in the District. They further state that all the negative results are been melted on farmers, traders, and the entire people of Afram Plains cannot be under-minded sometimes lives are lost.

The petitioners are demanding the immediate investigation, interdiction and subsequent prosecution of a Police officer stationed at Kwahu Tease Police Post area they are alleging that he is masterminding the robbery attacks on the roads. The further alleged the police officer supplies weapons and provides the robbers accurate information on commuters to aid their attack without being arrested.

One of Petitioner (Hon. Moro Inusah) the Constituency Youth Organizer of NPP in the Afram plains south in his statement and a one-on-one radio interview with Torgbui Gadeka on Afram fm 103.3mhz during the reigning socio-political show “Mpu ne Mpu” and award winning social program of the year 2019 ERMEA explained that on December 21, 2019, the robbers attacked one Mr. Seidu Sisala. A resident of Asukesi No.1 while heading to Forifori a town on Donkorkrom road.

Mr Seidu Sisala is said to have managed to identify the robbers hence on January 2, 2020, with the assistance of the residents they arrested one of the suspects while in town to buy gari.

The Residents claim that to avert mob attack, the suspect appealed to the mob to allow him to call his boss and the Police Officer was called on phone and on the loudspeaker, he mention that the suspect for embarking on a robbery attack without his permission.
In the Petition served the socio-political show host Torgbui Gadeka, the group and copied to the National Security Minister and the Inspector General of Police, they also called for “a broad-based investigations of the robbery issues since the way Police officers are being protected in situations like this has created a massive suspicion that there are other top officers in the service who are involved”.

They also asked for a fresh investigation into all Fulani herdsmen cases handled by the officer in question since there are heaps of allegations of always defending the herdsmen against farmers sometimes which bothers on criminality”
One of the Petitioner “Moro Inusah speaking to Torgbui Gadeka in a phone in radio interview hitted in an aggrieved manner that the implicated Police officer has hurriedly been transferred. He again fumed that residents of Afram Plains are fed-up with this canker of insecurity on their roads.
A passenger told Torgbui Gadeka what they passed through in the hands of the armed robbers “we were attacked and beaten by the robbers on my way to Kwame Dwamena where I teach, my palm was been cut with knife and it was not easy due to the reason that I have only GHC30.00 in my pocket. We are suffering, the road is also bad. For me, if they construct the road Drivers can even speed off when we see them”

It could be recall that in August 2016, four persons suffered gunshot wounds whilst Police station and barracks at Donkorkrom were torched together with a Police Vehicle by rampaging residents who accused the local Police of being behind the numerous robbery attacks.
Their action was in protest against the escape of two Policemen who were part of an armed robbery gang that attacked a bullion van and killed the driver.
The Policemen: Abrokwah Kissi and Solomon Elvis Mensah also known as Fire, while the civilian accomplice is Dejimah Mohammed were re-arrested and currently facing prosecution.
