BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY SUPPORTS PWDs WITH INCOME GENERATING ITEMS….
The Bosomtwe District Assembly of the Ashanti Region has supported some 18 persons with disability with a number of items to improve their living standards.
The items, which are to help those benefit venture into commercially viable activities, were procured from the share of the common fund allocated to the Assembly.
People who are disabled have a 3% share of all quarterly releases of the DACF meant for their upkeep. The Fund was previously shared in cash to the physically challenged persons for their use.
Speaking to media in an interview ,The District Chief Executive for the District Hon Joseph Assuming said the government, however, took a decision that instead of handing out cash to those who will benefit from the usual dissipated in no time, it was better to ensure that the money was used to secure sources of living with their consent.
Because of this issues coming up hence, The Assembly decided to use the funds to set them up in small business ventures which would help improve their economic status instead of taking the cash.
Speaking at a colourful presentation ceremony at the premises of the Bosomtwe District Assembly today ,
DCE Hon Joseph Assuming presented some brand new refrigerators deep freezers, sewing machines and some electrical appliances to the beneficiaries to enable them start businesses on their own.

However the social welfare director of the bosomtwe district Mr Adusei Amponsah said, the items were distributed based the request made by some some of the beneficiaries.
He used the medium to charged them to make good used of it.
Finally some of the beneficiaries also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the president for the gesture, they promised to used the items for the its purpose
