PRINCOF Garnishes CoE Double Track System Happening Next Academic Year, Says It Won’t Be Like That Of The SHSs

Information gathered from the TTAG Weekly Journal (TWJ) suggest that, the double track system which will be happening in the Colleges of Education in the next academic year is not actually a double track system like that of the Senior High Schools (SHSs).

This was revealed in an exclusive interview on TWJ with the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Nyamekye.

According to him, double track system in the SHSs allows a group of students to go to school for academic studies whereas other group would be made to stay home doing nothing. But with the colleges, the new implementation would be such that, those who will stay home will continue their academics online just like how it happened in the Covid-19 period.

“I wouldn’t want to refer to that as a double track system. A double track system as it pertains in the Senior High Schools, you would have a group of students in school and then another batch at home doing private studies, but what is being envisaged for the Colleges of Education is that, you would have maybe two cohorts in school and then a third or probably a fourth cohort would be at home doing online studies just as was done during the peak period of Covid-19, and hopefully the batche(s) that will be home will come to school at a point to either continue with their studies and/or write their exams and then another batch would go home to engage in online studies in that rotational order.

He advised that, every college should have internet connectivity in place to help trainee teachers in their studies.

“Because of that, every College is encouraged to get a strong WiFi and internet connectivity in place and T-TEL is helping in that direction so that we can go ahead to study wherever we are whether we are on campus or in our homes, we can still do effective studies.”
