🚩 EGS RELEASE
JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME. HAPPY PRESS FREEDOM DAY – EDUCATE GHANA SUMMIT (EGS).
Yesterday, 3rd May, 2020 was celebration of World Press Freedom Day and we wish all media houses a happy press freedom day.
We urge all CEOs of media houses to open the financial freedom gate to journalists by paying them well. This may enable journalists take good care of their families and deliver diligently without demanding ‘soli’ from clients.
Also, government must provide proper security to journalists to ensure their safety in the media fraternity.
“No democracy is complete without access to transparent and reliable information. It is the cornerstone for building fair and impartial institutions, holding leaders accountable and speaking truth to power.” — António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General
Fellow citizens, journalism is not a crime. Let’s embrace, understand and work with media to enable them operate without fear and panic.
However, we also advise our dear journalists to attach some level of intelligence and professionalism when delivering as well as facing national issues with utmost impartiality.
Once again, happy World Press Freedom Day to all journalists from Educate Ghana Summit. Keep it up and think about Ghana first. We love you all.
