EC To Announce New Date For Voters’ Registration Exercise
The main electoral body of Ghana, Electoral Commission (EC) is set to announce a new date for the compilation of a new voters’ register. Although the Electoral Commission had wanted to compile a new voters’ register on April 18, but due to the ban imposed on public gatherings and other religious activities by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to curb the spread of abominable COVID-19 in the country, “a new date for the registration will be announce in due course’, the EC said in a statement endorsed by its Acting Director of Public Affairs, Sylvia Annoh.
“The commission wishes to assured the general public that it will make sure that all the necessary and mandatory steps to guarantee the safety of the citizenry and safeguard them from the virus will be administered.’ In this regard, the EC will put in place effective and concrete measures including the provision of sanitizers at all polling stations and providing a conducive atmosphere at all the various registration centers so as to protect its stakeholders from the virus among others. “The general public is entreated to prepare for the upcoming voters’ registration exercise’. The EC stated.
