The leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) is set to hold a 3-day Zoom Forum to engage about two thousand of its members in the 46 public Colleges of Education across Ghana beginning today, Monday, August 3, 2020.
The Forum is aimed at addressing pertinent issues concerning the welfare of CETAG members and carry leadership to the ordinary CETAG member. Key among issues to be discussed during the forum include Category 2 & 3 Allowances, Book and Research Allowances, Interim Arrangement Factor (IAF), Tier 2 and 3 Pension Schemes, CETAG Provident Fund and CETAG investment with Gold Coast Securities and assessment of virtual teaching and learning this semester.
Speaking exclusively to the News Desk of the Colleges of Education Weekly Journal, Mr.
Prince Obeng-Himah, National President of CETAG stated that “in the wake of the pandemic fake news abounds and we want to use this opportunity to keep our members abreast with current happenings in CETAG. Albeit the times we find ourselves, we are doing our possible best to get the best negotiations from the government for our cherished members.
But for COVID-19, we should have been engaging our members on the field by now but we are determined to make use of technology to achieve this objective. We call on our members to join this important forum and share their concerns with us”.
A circular signed by Mr. Nathan Ohene Gyang, CETAG National Secretary stated that “Leadership appreciates how far we have come as an Association albeit challenges members have to contend with concerning the conditions of service. Regardless, members should rest assured that much is being done to help resolve these challenges with the appropriate stakeholders”.
The circular further added that “in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuous close down of Colleges, Leadership deems it fit to engage members of the Association to discuss issues that are of grave concern to members.
As a result, the 46 Colleges of Education have been grouped into three batches (batch: 1, 2, & 3) to participate in the Zoom Forum from Monday, August 3 2020 to Wednesday 5 August 2020. Attached is the list of Colleges with their scheduled date and zoom link to enable members to join the forum to help drive the Association forward”.
